I'm moving to the Boston area for a job and have to venture into building my business on the side. Since this will be a first for me, I would love to learn from the startup experts. Are there any classes for building startups in Boston?
If not, do any colleges there offer similar courses that one can take to get up to speed with the basics for starting an online business?
Getting Started Launch Education Startups Execution
There are a bunch of good resources in Boston. VentureFizz is a local tech news site with a pretty comprehensive events calendar -- that'd be the place to keep an eye out for workshops or classes. I'd also specifically follow General Assembly in Boston -- they offer a lot of classes on the skills side, but also host some more general startup how-to events or chats with experts.
If you're really just looking for absolute basics, you're probably better off starting with some online resources. Rough Draft VC just released their online student founder handbook, which may be a good guide for you. And get some books like "The Lean Startup" and "Business Model Canvas Generation" -- these are good primers for any first-time founder.
